Speaker: Brian F. Keane

Brian KeaneBrian F. Keane is President of SmartPower and author of Green Is Good: Save Money, Make Money, and Help Your Community Profit from Clean Energy (Lyons Press, 2012). He is a leading voice on clean energy, energy efficiency and the environment. As President of SmartPower, a Washington, D.C.-based marketing agency dedicated to promoting clean, renewable energy and energy efficiency, Brian has helped shape the energy debate in the U.S. A graduate of American University, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science.

Why is it that 80% of Americans say they want solar power yet less than 3% actually buy it? What will it take to effectively bring solar power into mainstream America? A lively, amusing and insightful presentation on the challenges and opportunities that solar power faces in the consumer marketplace.

Insights from Top Solar Power Leadership: An Audience-Driven Discussion
Speakers: Julia Hamm and Rhone Resch

Julia HammJulia Hamm is the President and CEO, Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA), co-producer of PV America East and a national non-profit that helps its utility members make smart solar decisions. She has built strong relationships with utilities and solar companies worldwide and authored numerous articles on solar trends and utility solar programs.

Prior to leading SEPA, Julia worked as a senior associate at ICF International where she supported the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency with implementation of its ENERGY STAR program. In 2007 she was named one of the Top 10 Women in Cleantech by earth2tech. Julia holds a Bachelors of Science in Business Management from Cornell University. She lives with her husband and son in a PV-powered, energy-efficient home in Arlington, Virginia.

Rhone ReschRhone Resch is the President and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA). In eight years at SEIA, he has created the 30% investment tax credit, the 1603 Treasury Program, and over 18 other provisions that have helped grow the industry from 52 MW/yr in 2004 to nearly 2,000 MW/yr today. Rhone has over 20 years of experience working on clean energy development and climate change issues in the public and private sector. Prior to SEIA, Rhone served as the Vice President for the Natural Gas Supply Association and as as Program Manager at the EPA’s Climate Protection Division during the Clinton administration. Rhone holds an MPA in Management from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School, a Master of Environmental Engineering from SUNY Syracuse, and a B.A. from the University of Michigan. He lives in Washington, D.C., with his wife Lisa and two children in a solar-powered house.

Moderator: Glenn Thayer

Glenn ThayerGlenn Thayer has been facilitating meetings and moderating conferences for more than a decade. He is regularly seen on PBS and can be heard on radio and television. Glenn is a master of promoting an open dialogue between conference presenters and their audiences.

Scott KlososkyScott Klososky, an international technology speaker, consultant, author and entrepreneur, is the former CEO of three successful tech startup companies, CEO of Future Point of View (a technology consulting firm), and the founder and part owner of Alkami Technology. He is currently developing www.crowdscribed.com, a new publishing model for a range of publication types generated by crowdsourcing.
